- The tracers are natural, harmless and do not change the characteristics product/commodity
- The tracers consist of natural elements and stable isotopes (abundance in nature), generating a unique combination
- The tracers are added in extremely small quantities: one to a million to one to a billion (depending on the solution)

- The tracers are immutable, stable and do not change after processing, refinery or any other production technology
